This is a 6-week group workshop for individuals living with type 2 diabetes. The workshop was developed by Stanford University to help individuals manage their diabetes symptoms, tiredness, pain, and emotional issues. The interactive workshop meets for 2.5 hours each week and is taught by two trained instructors, at least one of whom has diabetes themself.

Concepts include:

  • How to manage diabetes symptoms
  • Information on physical activity for keeping and enhancing strength and endurance
  • How to work effectively with healthcare professionals
  • Healthy eating practices
  • Following medication plans
  • Chronic Pain Self-Management

The 6-week program will help individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes, if you are experiencing complications, or have a recent change in your treatment. Caregivers or family members are welcome to attend classes, too.

The workshop will be held weekly on Wednesday mornings at the Leesburg, GA Library from 10 am – 12:30 pm.

This event is organized by Southwest Georgia (SOWEGA) Council on Aging. For any questions please contact Jamie Harper at jami.harper@sowegacoa.org
