Mammograms

Mammograms are extremely important and are X-ray images of
your breast that are used to screen for breast cancer. The goal of
mammograms is to detect breast cancer as early as possible and before any clinical signs are noticeable.
There is no ideal age to start screening for breast cancer. Therefore, always consult your doctor to see when the right time is for you.
Usually, women should start getting mammograms at age 40. If there is a high risk of breast cancer and other family members have had breast cancer, it is not a bad idea to start screening earlier.
Something important to remember is that mammograms are
detection, not prevention. It is incredibly important to get these
scheduled and stay on time. The early the detection of breast
cancer the higher the survival rate.
October is breast cancer awareness month, so remember to
schedule your mammograms on time!
