As we age, it is important to stay connected within our community. Staying connected and engaged can promote emotional well-being and reduce the risk of social isolation and metal health disorders. Fostering and maintaining friendships, participating in hobbies and events, and staying “out and about” not only contributes to your emotional well-being, but can also help you maintain your cognitive health and remain physically active.
Here are some ways to get engaged:
- Check out your local library for classes, activities, and community events.
- Volunteer with a non-profit in your community.
- Participate in a walking group.
- Play games with friends such as bridge, chess, or any other game you enjoy.
- Get involved in a recreation center or place of worship.
- Visit family and friends.
